For those who are curious about what goes on at Anime Cons, specifically my panel take a look:

Luki caught my Amecon Anime Dub Live Panel on video this year so I thought I’d share.

Normally I do a talk on how to dub at home then get people up to voice from a script, then I let people come up and they basically have to do an improv parody dub with no script.
This year the first hour was a live improvisational drama instead, I got willing volunteers to form groups. These groups were anime dubbing companies, they had to think of a name and their basic dubbing style. ( if they wanted to be British or censor everything etc). They then came up and explained this to the audience. I then got the first two groups, they had to convince a “Japanese representative” they should get the licence. Each of the two groups had two cards, one they read at the start and one about halfway through which gave them instructions. I was mean to the next lot who just got told they were at a press conference to announce a new anime, they didn’t get cards.

Part 2 went straight to a live parody dub, I had a bunch of clips I’d made with just BGM and SFX and no vocals I then got people up and they basically had to make it up as they went along. Two groups also got challenge cards which told then to dub in certain styles. One group got a B movie and had to dub Fruits Basket to it.
