Lovely Complex dub
By Azure • Jun 5th, 2008 • Category: ReviewsNikki Jones is a person whose dubs I look out for, they are of constant high quality. To be honest I wondered if I should feature any fan dubs at all, but this clip just swayed me. If you watched it you might not be able to tell it was a fan produced work at all. The only feature that might give it away is Nikki’s trademark style, but that’s no bad thing just as as an anime dub fan might be able to identify the work of any major studio such as ADV or Bang Zoom! you can with Nikki’s work.
The dialogue flows nicely, which is no mean feet considering the stylised an energised nature of most anime. The girls in the dub ( Nikki, Rikka and Kathryn) have distinctive voice despite all performing in the same voice range.
Brandon’s voice really stands out, he has a distinctive way of pronouncing words which he uses to great effect when his character Otani drops his dramatic news. My only criticism is that separated from the anime it comes from it was easy to miss the references, and I’m sure I would have gotten more out of it I’d known a little more about the characters.

Yes, with Nikki’s dubs, you forget you’re watching a fandub.
Everyone was terrific, and Nikki always has high quality sound effects.
